AV Concepts Sets New Mark for 3D Holographic Projection

LAS VEGAS — AV Concepts was involved in the presentation of the largest 3D holographic projection yet. On a surface spanning nearly 2,000 square feet at a recent corporate event, visitors could experience a 3D holographic projection without the need for 3D glasses. VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – One of the longest-running programs in broadcast history, CBN’s The 700 Club, had been using an analog lighting system for much of its run — the last 30 of 45 on-air years. The show, which is accessible to 1.5 billion people around the world and airs weekdays, was due for a technical overhaul from lighting fixtures to control. Their new future-proofed system includes a hybrid lighting rig of ETC Selador LED luminaires and conventional fixtures controlled by an ETCNet3 network with an Eos system at the front. It was recently installed with the help of ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc.) and 4Wall Entertainment and without interrupting the live schedule.

“Austria’s Next Topmodel” Relies on coolux Pandoras Box for Visual Support

VIENNA – The final show for the third season of Austria's version of the Next Topmodel TV show, produced at the Millenium Event Center in Vienna, made use of coolux Pandoras Box technology and Panasonic projectors. Four fashion model finalists were judged during the show, with a variety of accompanying visual content projected onto the studio set pieces. Six Pandoras Box Server PRO and one Pandoras Box Player PRO used for edge-blending, with a Compulite Vector used for lighting control.

Boston Light &Sound Gets Film Festival Assist from Alcorn McBride DVM 8400/HD

BOSTON – Boston Light & Sound, which supports numerous film festivals including The Doha Tribeca Film Festival, The Turner Classic Movies Film Festival and The Traverse City Film Festival, had "been looking for a device that could be encoded for screen washes, sponsor tags and trailers" for years, according to company president Chapin Cutler, who also serves as technical director of the Sundance Film Festival.

Loss of $1 Million Video Wall on John Mayer Tour Covered by Specialty Insurance

BURBANK, CA – Chaos Visual Productions provided video support for 10 touring productions last summer. One of the largest, the John Mayer Battle Studies Tour, traveled with a 50-by-20-foot LED video wall comprised of 45 Martin LC 2140 panels, designed for indoor use. The tour performed 122 shows in 331 days in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.  For a late July performance, Chaos set up the wall in an outdoor venue. Although the weather had been clear and sunny, it suddenly turned, and a monsoon-like squall swept through, completely destroying the video wall.

JM Rental Provides 60-Meter-Wide LED Display at IDEX Opening Ceremony

ABU DHABI, UAE – JM Rental Ltd. provided LED displays for IDEX 2011, a major defense and security related event held in late February. Working with Showtec Communications PTE LTD for RedFilo Event LLC, JM Rental provided 696 panels of Lighthouse Technologies 7 mm visual pitch R7-ER as a backdrop for the daytime opening ceremony for the 10th annual event, which was attended by more than 1,000 VIPs including Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE.
