The Design Winners of the 67th Annual Drama Desk Awards

On May 31, 2023 the winners for the 67th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced. In keeping with the Drama Desk‘s mission, the nominators considered shows that opened on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off Broadway during the 2022-2023 season for this year’s awards. Among the winners are Life of Pi designers: Tim Hatley for Lighting and Andrzej Goulding for Projection and Video. A Tour of the Stage for Metallica’s ‘M72 World Tour’

Metallica’s M72 World Tour covers 12 countries, 49 total shows, and has a custom stage that Metallica shows off in this behind the scenes video. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo sit down with Zane Lowe in the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam. You see the stage setup in the beginning and then in the final segment (49:12) Lars Ulrich shows Zane an up-close view of the “Snake Pit” stage setup, looking at the incredible infrastructure of the stage and the details that create this incredible environment for the band and the audience.
