The Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) announced their ninth annual membership meeting. On May 18 – 20, 2024, TSDCA will hold three days of public panels and discussions regarding sound design and composition for theatre. The first two days will be held at the Loreto Theater of The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture, and the third day will be held at the Dolby 88 Screening Room.

Jessica Ann Drayton Named the 2024 Fellow with The Howell Binkley Fellowship Program

The Howell Binkley Fellowship Program announces its 2024 Fellow, Jessica Ann Drayton. Drayton is a born-and-raised Georgian freelance lighting designer. She holds a B.F.A. from Wright State University and M.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. A true artist at heart, Drayton loves how every production has a life of its own. She’s ecstatic to be joining forces with the Program’s Amanda Zieve and Ryan O’Gara to captivate audiences and gain experience. Drayton is extremely grateful for this opportunity. Stage Managers’ Association Foundation Announces Spring Grants

An arts organization and four individuals have been selected to receive  monetary  grants from the Stage Managers’ Association Foundation (SMAF) in the Foundation’s Spring 2024 grant cycle. A grant has been awarded to the Mosesian Center for the Arts (Watertown, MA), which sought funding to sustain and grow the Stage Manager Training program at Watertown Children’s Theatre. 39th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards Nominations Announced

Nominations for the 39th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were announced on April 4, 2024. The 2024 Awards will be presented at the annual ceremony which will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at NYU Skirball beginning at 7:00pm. The event will once again be open to the public, with tickets available for purchase beginning April 11 at tickets.nyu.edu or at the NYU Skirball box office Tuesday – Saturday 12pm – 6pm. As always, the Lortel Awards is a benefit for the Entertainment Community Fund and fans are encouraged to make donations at LortelAwards.org. The Burry Fredrik Foundation Announces Scenic Designer Omid Akbari as the Recipient of the 2024 Burry Fredrik Design Fellowship

The Burry Fredrik Foundation has announced Scenic Designer Omid Akbari as the recipient of the 2024 Burry Fredrik Design Fellowship and its $10,000 award. The Burry Fredrik Design Fellowship was established in 2017 to help launch the careers of graduates from David Geffen School of Drama’s Design program. Each year, the faculty selects one graduating scenic, costume, lighting, projection, or sound designer as the Burry Fredrik Design Fellow, who receives a cash award. Robe Footsies Crack it at Orlando Ballet

As the cornerstone of its 50th Anniversary Season, the Orlando Ballet commissioned a spectacular new production of The Nutcracker, one of the world’s most popular and most performed ballets, which debuted last December. Billed as “bigger, brighter, and full of surprises” as well as the largest ballet ever created by an Orlando-based performing arts organization, the production was staged in Steinmetz Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts. New choreography, all new sets, costumes, and an updated storyline by Jorden Morris, who also serves as the ballet’s artistic director, brought an exciting edge to a timeless classic, combined with a host of interesting and innovative staging elements including a lighting design by Joseph R. Selected students will be introduced to established industry professionals through a series of lively online events.
