The Stage Managers’ Association Foundation Adds Two Board Members

The Board of Directors of the Stage Managers’ Association Foundation (SMAF) is pleased to announce that at their January 2024 meeting, J. Jason Daunter of Anaheim, CA, and Judy Martel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were elected to the Board. Daunter and Martel will join the 10 current board members of this New York State-based charitable organization. Its mission is to promote the craft and the art of those working in stage management. Theatre Communications Group Announces THRIVE! Indigenous Theatre Grants

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre announces the recipients of the THRIVE! Indigenous Theatre Grants. The four Indigenous theatres that will receive $10,000 each are American Indian Artists Inc. (AMERINDA), Natives of the Apocalypse, Red Eagle Soaring, and Spiderwoman Theater. The THRIVE! Uplifting Theatres of Color program is supported by the Doris Duke Foundation and the Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation, and developed and administered by TCG with an Advisory Circle of BIPOC theatre leaders. In addition to the Advisory Circle, seven arts and culture leaders from Native/Indigenous communities worked with TCG as advisors and nominators for the Indigenous Theatre Grants. Two theater lighting designers, Paule Constable and Tim Lutkin, have both become early adopters of GLP’s new impression X5 platform—believing the powerful fixture to be a perfect solution for theatre designers, and setting the standard as a new generation for wash lights. The Stage Managers’ Association 2023 Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management Photo Gallery

On Monday, November 6, 2023, the Stage Managers’ Association presented its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management at the National Opera Center Marc A. Scorca Hall in NYC. The distinguished 2023 honorees are theatrical production stage managers John M. Atherlay and Gwen Gilliam, and opera production stage manager Brett Finley. Sparks Theatrical Provides impression X5 Wash Lights to Trio of Top Designers

Three leading West End/Broadway theater lighting designers are using GLP’s new impression X5 Wash – all supplied by Paul Anderson at Sparks Theatrical Hire – to light current or upcoming shows. Leading the charge was Paule Constable, who originally requested them for Guys and Dolls at London’s Bridge Theatre.
