Brompton Technology is proud to announce that it has been honored with a King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation, one of the most prestigious recognitions for UK businesses. Brompton is one of just 197 organizations nationally to receive the 2025 Award, recognized for outstanding achievement in the Innovation category. A total of 199 Awards are made with two companies being recognized with two Awards.
Founded in 2011, Brompton Technology has evolved into a global leader in LED video processing, employing 79 people across its UK headquarters and international locations. Its ground-breaking Tessera platform powers some of the world’s largest live events and is a driving force behind the rapid growth of virtual production techniques in film and television. Brompton’s technology has enabled creative visions for concert touring for global superstars including Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, and major film and television productions such as Barbie, The Mandalorian, and House of the Dragon. Brompton previously won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category in 2020 and was AV Magazine’s Manufacturer of the Year in 2023.
The King’s Award recognizes Brompton’s innovation in developing the Tessera SX40, which set a new standard for LED video processing. Supporting 4K workflows with a robust 10G fibre-based data distribution model, Tessera SX40 solves critical bandwidth and cabling challenges for large LED screens in demanding environments. Its advanced Dynamic Calibration technology dramatically improve LED panel uniformity and brightness without the compromises of traditional calibration methods, while its free software updates have introduced powerful new capabilities including ShutterSync®, which allows LED refresh rates to be fine-tuned to match camera settings, Extended Bit Depth for superior HDR performance, 3D LUT import for advanced colour grading, and Frame Remapping, enabling the display of multiple camera views on a single LED wall.
These, and many other, ongoing enhancements, delivered via software rather than hardware upgrades, have allowed Brompton’s processors to evolve alongside its customers’ needs, preserving investment and extending the usable life of LED panels, a strategy that not only delivers technical excellence but also embodies a sustainable approach to product development. This philosophy of designing for longevity and backwards compatibility has strengthened Brompton’s position as a trusted technology partner across live entertainment, broadcast, education, esports, corporate AV, and premium signage.
Brompton’s innovation has also played a critical role in transforming virtual production workflows, offering filmmakers and studios a powerful alternative to green screen techniques. By enabling stunningly realistic digital environments within controlled studio settings, Brompton’s technology has helped reduce the environmental impact and logistical complexity of traditional on-location filming, an advantage that became even more important during the pandemic and has continued to drive efficiencies for productions worldwide.
“We are incredibly proud to receive a King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, following our Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2020,” says Richard Mead, CEO of Brompton Technology. “This recognition is a testament to the ingenuity and hard work of our team and the amazing success of the Tessera SX40, which has also been recognised with other major awards including an Emmy from the Television Academy based in Los Angeles. Brompton continues to focus on innovation to meet the needs of our customers and delivering quality and reliability, backed up by 24/7 technical support.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II by recognizing outstanding UK businesses. The Award program, now in its 59th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with successful businesses able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
