LONDON – With an impressive track record in live event production ranging from fashion shows, corporate events and sports to high profile VIP gatherings, Essay Video was chosen to manage EGG 2019 NYC, a conference concerning artificial intelligence (AI) hosted by leading data science and machine learning platform specialists, Dataiku.

More details from Brompton (www.bromptontech.com):

Now in its third year, with sister conferences taking place in London, San Francisco and Paris, EGG explores real-world use cases at leading industry companies who are successfully utilising AI and hot topics like machine learning interpretability. Using a range of formats from in-depth presentations to technical workshops, New York based Essay Video devised an AV set-up based around LED video systems, utilizing Brompton Technology’s Tessera LED processors to meet the technical challenges of the conference.

“Dataiku is a new client through our working relationship with Spring Studios. We have worked with the producers before on other projects, but this was the first time we’ve ever worked with Dataiku on their EGG NYC conference,”comments Greg Fellows, founder and CEO of Essay Video.

As part of the brief, good quality resolution of graphics and video sources on a large screen was Essay Video’s paramount objective. Projection screens were initially considered but the venue has large open windows, and Dataiku wanted to incorporate the natural light from these windows into the AV design. Consequently, LED technology was chosen as it would produce the best results.

“We selected Brompton processors for this project due to their superior control of colour display onscreen – for us, it’s proven to be the best in LED processing,” continues Fellows. “Another factor we had to consider was the moiré effect when the client or any delegates take photographs of the screen. Going the LED route using 4K processing and high-density pixels allowed for clear photos to be taken without the appearance of large-scale interference patterns.”

Essay Video specifieda landscape 30ft x 10ft LED screen, comprising ROE Black Pearl 2.8mm panels with a 3:1 aspect ratio, fed from a Brompton Tessera SX40 high capacity processor with Brompton Tessera XD Data Distribution unit.

Brompton’s SX40 processor offers a multitude of features, such as support for full 4K screens at 60Hz with 12 bits per color output, a zero-latency up/down scaler that matches the source to the screen, plus all of Tessera’s industry-leading processing features such as ChromaTune color correction and On Screen Color Adjustment (OSCA). Combined with the XD unit, a sophisticated data distribution solution designed to manage the complications of mass cabling that can arise with large LED display systems, the SX40 provides a cost-effective yet powerful system that will support the very biggest LED projects.

“We are very happy with the results – everything from the resolution to the coloring was first rate,” concludes Fellows. “Thanks to Brompton’s exceptional Tessera range, the overall quality of the conference AV was excellent. Dataiku was very pleased with the support of our onsite team, and was particularly amazed at the results from the LED screen.”
