The Parnelli Awards Board of Advisors have announced an additional award to be handed out this year, Stage Manager of the Year. “Every year we get many suggestions for awards, but time constraints and other issues make it so that the board must be precise and careful when they do add one,” says Terry Lowe, Parnelli Awards Co-Founder and Founder of PLSN/FOH Magazines. “But there was overwhelming support to acknowledge the importance of the stage manager on tours, and so we’re excited to launch this new category.”
A smaller change being made is in name only – the Audio System Tech on a tour is key to a concert’s success, and that positions has gotten even more complicated and important since the Parnelli Board handed the first Audio System Tech of the Year Award out in 2008. Appropriately, the audio professionals in this position have increasingly been going by System Engineer, which is more accurate. So starting at the 24th Annual Parnelli Awards in January, the award for this category will be called Audio System Engineer of the Year.
The gala will be held Saturday, January 24th, and will be in the Anaheim Hilton Pacific Ballroom.
