OKLAHOMA CITY – After and long and hard-fought battle against a rare type of blood cancer Oklahoma City based Kenny Phillips lost his 6-year long struggle, which he handled with grace and humility.
Kenny was first and foremost an accomplished musician, a keyboard player with a special touch at the B3 organ he played from the age of 12, with a special affinity for Blues and Rock.
But he was truly much more than that. In 1975 he formed Phillips Pro Audio, a regional force in the sound, lighting, and backline rental company. In the 90’s, after inheriting his grandmother’s house, he formed Rockhouse Cinema and Film, a award winning video production house.
Kenny accomplished many things I know he would say were more than he could have hoped for. Organizing and touring eastern Europe with his band performing for the troops via the USO, Grammy winning front of house engineer for the Grammy Award winning live album by Robin Williams and production manager for the highly successful Rob Becker Broadway show “Defending the Caveman” were just a few of his many accomplishments. But he was most proud of his support for the local arts and music scene where he shared his many talents and resources giving back to the community he loved so much.
Kenny is gone but we trust he will not be forgotten. RIP Sir.
