ST LOUIS – Logic Systems Production has been chosen as the production vendor for a Live Nation weekend of three diverse acts happening July 10th, 11th, and 12th in the town’s shed – sort of. It’ll be held in the parking lot, but it ain’t no drive-in movie thing as it’ll have full audio, lighting, and video. The three nights feature three different artists: Brad Paisley on Friday; El Monstero, an enormously popular Pink Floyd tribute band, on Saturday; and on Sunday, hometown hero/Grammy Award-winning artist Nelly. It all happens at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater, which had a rich, full schedule happening per its usual summer until the pandemic shut it all down.

More details from Logic Systems (www.logicsound.com):

Live Nation is putting on these series of shows in two other places: Nashville and Indianapolis. There is a max of four people per car, and attendees are asked to wear a mask when they arrive. Tickets will go on sale Friday and will fluctuate in accordance to demand, but a Live Nation spokesperson wrote the price per car will be as low as $125 (that’s $31.25 a person for those reaching for their calculator).

“What’s different about this is that while most of these drive-in shows are using FM transmitters to attendees car stereos, we’re putting up a large PA to provide a more authentic, and better sounding concert experience,” says Logic’s Chip Self. “It’s impossible to control a mix on a thousand different car radios being controlled by a thousand different people.” Self adds that he hopes to take delivery on a new PK Audio Trinity System by the event for the system’s debut performance. For video, Logic is bringing out its Absen Video screens. “Video is big – it’s the whole backdrop and sides for a total of 20 meters. Plus another vendor is bringing out another three or four as delay screens for those in the back.” Lighting will be made up of a fixtures from ETC, Vari*Lite, and Chauvet Professional. The lighting is fairly modest as the County Government that okayed this put a curfew of 9 p.m. on it as they assume the earlier it ends, the easier it’ll be to enforce social distancing.

“A ticket gets you a bigger space then just a car parking spot,” Self continues. “They’ve designated lines to include a social-distancing budget between spaces, and the spaces are big enough for people to get out of their cars and enjoy the concert.” All eyes are on how the event goes both from an audience reception perspective and of safety. “If it goes well, Live Nation would like to do more shows like this.” While Self is hopeful he’ll get to do additional shows like this, he acknowledges it’s a drop in the ocean compared to what the multi-nominated Parnelli Awards nominee typically has on the books in the summer. “It’s good to do this as otherwise we were just in building new walls in the office and painting the warehouse floor!”

Canadian-based PK Audio was primarily a production house that did a lot EDM events when they started developing new systems focused on that market. The Trinity system has gained a lot of buzz and Self, who is always careful in what he invests in, and gone in big on it. “The EDM market loves them, and their additional beta tests have been successful – they sound great for every kind of genre.”
