4Wall Supports PCPA Theaterfest with Donated Gear
SANTA MARIA, CA- PCPA Theaterfest, a conservatory theatre of Allan Hancock College, has expanded the lighting capabilities of their productions recently through donated equipment from 4Wall Entertainment and CEO Michael Cannon, himself a Hancock College Alumnus.
To support the theater program of both the College and PCPA, 4Wall provided equipment directly from its nationwide inventory for use by the young technicians and their teachers. Items donated thus far include Vari*Lite moving lights, Color Kinetics ColorBlaze and ColorBlast LEDs, Wybron Scrollers, a High End Whole Hog 2 Console, and over 100 ETC Source Four Ellipsoidals.
Initial donations also include dimming racks, hazers, and snow machines as well as a 24’ box truck for transportation of materials between the college and theater venues.
Jennifer Zornow, PCPA Theaterfest Lighting Director, spoke of the donation and its impact on the conservatory and the school:
“Current technology is critical for a theater conservatory when teaching the next generation of technicians. It is incredibly valuable to train our technicians on this equipment for them to be competitive in the field. Our technicians go on to complete 4 year degrees and work in regional theaters, cruise ships, live events, and concerts.”
The equipment is used not only for training, but also to improve the aesthetic quality of the PCPA Productions. Recent shows utilizing the equipment have included Legally Blonde, Little Women, Hairspray, and The Rivals.
Created in 1964, PCPA has continued to provide quality theatre for more than 40 years as the only resident professional theatre company on the Central Coast. Through 4Wall’s support, the shows should go on with professional lighting for many seasons to come.
“Each year we had been able to purchase a few items, but we were falling behind. The generosity of 4Wall and Michael Cannon has allowed us to stay up-to-date and competitive,” said Zornow.
