NASHVILLE – Renowned LD Bob Peterson was engaged by CMT to deliver his usual magic for their 2011 Artist of the Year television show. The show filmed Nov. 29 at the Gaylord Arena in Nashville and aired Dec. 13. The show honored Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift. This collection of entertainers has set records last year, and together accounted for millions of ticket and record sales.

Peterson has long been known for his work in television, special events and live shows. His lighting team included Monica Rose, Mark Butts, Ken Hudson, John Lucksinger, Sam Morgan, Scott Sepe and Ben Ryle.
Peterson called into play a wide variety fixtures. For the hard edge effects, Peterson relied on the VL 3500 and VL 2500. For the warm incandescent touch, the Coemar Halos was used. For a heavy wash, Peterson used a number of Martin MAC 101s and GLP Volkslichts, as well as Pixilines and GRN Washes.

Two Grand MA consoles controlled the show, with Hippo Green Hippotizers controlling all of the digital media. Lycian 1271s and M2s were the spotlight of choice.

Bandit Lites Vice President Michael Golden handled the details for Peterson. Golden said, “Bob is a true genius, and a pleasure to work with. He is an artisan and knows his craft well. I look forward to each and every opportunity we have to work with Bob and his team.”

In addition to the honored artists, the supporting cast included host Rob Lowe, The All American Rejects, Avett Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Ellen DeGeneres, Gavin DeGraw, Jeff Gordon, Faith Hill, Tony La Russa, Miranda Lambert, Matthew McConaughey, Sean Peyton, Lionel Richie, William Shatner and Joe Walsh.
