KNOXVILLE, TN – Bandit Lites has announced a new "green" emphasis with a stated goal to be "80 percent LED" by 2011. Last year Bandit worked with GRNLite to develop a line of LED products that might serve as alternatives for less energy-efficient lighting fixtures. Benefits of an all-LED show, the company noted, could include less heat on stage, less energy used, less cable required, no generator needed, fewer required crew members, less truck space, and ultimately less fuel and emissions for touring shows.
Noting that its "green" efforts are part of a process and not a single action, Bandit pledged to work toward a variety of environmentally friendly goals. Once-printed materials, for example, are now available only in electronic form. The company is also switching to more energy-efficient lighting sources and sorting and recycling its waste.
Bandit said it is also educating staff on "green" thinking and urging team members, vendors and clients to consider the environment first in all decisions. The Bandit Web site reaffirms the company's new stance.
