HOLLISTER, MO – Blue Planet recently provided technical support aboard the Showboat Branson Belle after they were contacted to improve and upgrade the lighting control within their new set.
Blue Planet Lighting’s Jon Hurst was asked to come up with a way to use the full potential of their LED walls, including pixel mapping.
After inspecting the current setup, Hurst’s solution was to remove the DMX control of the interfaces and install an ethernet network to interface with the power supplies for the LEDs with a Color Kinetics Light System Manager to allow the client to control and map the LEDs individually. By doing this, the Showboat went from using nearly three universes of DMX to only using five channels of DMX, while having much greater control.
