OTTAWA, CA – On July 1st, Canada celebrated its 150th birthday on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Activities on the hill took places all day and ended up with a big show at night, hosted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the first lady, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau and the minister of Canadian Heritage, Mélanie Joly. The bill of the day included ceremonial segments, band performances and production numbers made especially for the day. Canadians had the honor of the presence of the Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Governor General of Canada, David Johnston who came to commemorate the Canadian Confederation.

Many Canadian artists performed on Canada Day, such as: Walk Off the Earth, Alessia Cara, Serena Ryder, Dean Brody, Gordon Lightfoot, Kinnie Star, Mike Tompkins, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Patrick Watson, Louis-Jean Cormier, Lisa Leblanc, Marie-Mai, Laurence Nerbonne and special guests, Bono and The Edge from U2.
Lüz studio was in charge of the lighting design and video content for the 1st of July celebrations. The team started to prepare for this event back in Fall 2016 in association with the producer, Groupe Phaneuf. Solotech Montreal provided all technical equipment for the occasion.
The set design was made of 690 SLpro8 tiles divided on 3 stages, totaling 8000 pixels! The stage was located in front of the Parliament and one of the challenges was to integrate it in the video content as a support on the screens.
