AUSTIN, TX – Founded in 2004 by Don Pugh and Robert Mokry, LightParts recently celebrated their tenth anniversary as the first dedicated lighting parts and repair center for the entertainment industry. This year, the company is also marking 10 years since Chris King joined LightParts. King (pictured here, center, and flanked, L-R, by Mokry and Pugh) is known as the company’s “king of electronics repair.”

More details from LightParts (www.lightparts.com):

Before LightParts, King graduated from ITT Tech College in 1996, worked at High End Systems on several occasions through his career, and worked at NASA subcontractor Johnson Engineering making models of the ISS and Mars rover, as well as mock up panels used by the astronauts when training. He also started a stained glass business, but ‘didn’t like the hours and pay!’ Chris started with LightParts fixing ballasts and logic boards, next learned Martin products with the assistance of Carl Wake, attended Vari-Lite training class, and has continually been learning new and different products as needed through the years.

Chris says, “As far as jobs go, you can’t beat this one. I work with a great people and get to have a light show at my bench almost every day.  What started out as a job has become more than a career; it’s almost family.”

LightParts President Don Pugh commented, “Chris King has been the corporate backbone of product support and repair services during his ten year tenure at LightParts. His dedication and professionalism exemplify the LightParts approach to customer service.”

Robert Mokry added, “Chris is an invaluable part of our staff. The guy can literally repair anything that can be repaired! This isn’t speculation –  I pester him regularly with my guitar and studio gear, home stereo stuff, laptop computers, UPS units – you name it. Of course, he’s a machine repairing lighting gear too. We’ve been fortunate to be able to depend on Chris for ten years, and look forward to the next ten”.
