MIAMI – The 2010 Ultra Music Festival – billed as "The World's Premier Electronic Music Festival" – won Best Music Event 2010 at the 25th Annual International Dance Music Awards, and included lighting looks created with Clay Paky's Alpha Beam 1500 fixtures. "The Alpha Beam 1500s we used to create a really big beam-y look to the show," said Andrew Gumper, president of AG Light & Sound Inc., which supplied 24 Clay Paky Alpha Beam 1500 fixtures for LD Stephen Lieberman's lighting design.

"The fixtures were spread over 200 feet wide and had an amazing impact alongside the enormous video backwall," Gumper added. "The Alpha Beams performed flawlessly and looked great." Although the event was held outdoors, the fixtures that were exposed to the elements were protected with custom inflatable bubble domes.

The main stage featured a towering back wall with video screens accompanied by lasers, fog machines and special effects to pulse to the beat of the high-energy music. AG provided lighting and video gear for the main stage as well as video and some rigging for four other stages.

The twelfth edition of the Ultra Music Festival proved to be the most elaborate production to date. The event returned to downtown Miami's waterfront Bicentennial Park for two days and two nights. There were 12 stages for the 200 DJs and live bands performing before 100,000 revelers during the two-day event.

"We have always been very happy with our relationship with Andrew Gumper," says Pio Nahum, Clay Paky marketing manager. "His company is young and dynamic and they have been taking our products to exciting new levels. They are involved with very interesting high-profile events and it's great to hear the nice feedback."

"We look forward to many exciting projects in our future," added Francesco Romagnoli, Clay Paky area manager.
