INDIA – Clay Paky’s increasingly strong relationship with Mumbai-based Jagmag Electric Co. is resulting in the full range of Clay Paky fixtures being used at many of the most glittering events across India’s major cities.
Jagmag became distributor for Clay Paky in India in 2009 with a view to developing the market for Clay Paky in India and ensuring that JagMag’s prestigious clients have access to its lighting stock.
Since then, Jagmag Electric Co. – a one-stop, full service, in-house lighting, production and power distribution company – has supplied Clay Paky luminaires to many of India’s premier ceremonies.
Lighting Designer and general manager of Jagmag, Atul Sonpal, is known for his work on Bollywood award nights and shows in India, and last year Jagmag and Clay Paky have collaborated to light events including India’s Big Star Young Entertainment Awards, Film Fare Awards, Colors Screen Award, RMD Ring Ceremony, Global Indian TV and Films Honors, Starparivar Awards and the Stardust Awards.
“We are committed to providing the best lighting design, production and technical know-how to ensure the success of every event,” says Sonpal.
Jagmag Electric Co. began operations in the early 1960s, as “government approved contractors,” handling illumination, power distribution and lighting design for prestigious VIP gatherings and government buildings.
Fifty years later, that remains one of the company’s main divisions. In the early 90s, the company diversified into larger events: award functions, concerts, fashion shows, corporate launches, exhibitions and TV shows.
“We are delighted to be working with such a forward looking, creative business,” continues Pio Nahum, chief commercial officer for Clay Paky. “The Indian entertainment technology market is a lively and growing concern for Clay Paky and we believe that our feature rich range of fixtures provide a comprehensive palette for the most imaginative of lighting designers. Working with Jagmag and the company’s clients is an absolute pleasure and seeing the imaginative way our products are used is the icing on the cake.”
