WASHINGTON DC – When Robin Williams taped his HBO special, Weapons of Self-Destruction, at Washington, D.C.'s DAR Constitution Hall, Atomic Lighting provided LD Tom Beck with 44 Coemar Infinity Wash XLs and 24 Infinity ACLs. "Except for Robin's keylighting, we used all automated lights for this show," said Beck. "The Infinity Wash XLs highlighted the set, which included a background of royal blue curtains, that was diffused by camouflage netting, and five large LED screens on stage with custom show content. The fixtures proved to be very bright and rich with great colors."
The Coemar Infinity Wash XL features include a CMY/RGB color mix system, an effects wheel for texture and aerial effects with wash light and a beam shaper rotating and indexing at 360 degrees. The Infinity ACL S, which Beck used for the first time, feature variable beam size and beam control with rotating aerial effects, a moon flower effect, split color beam effects and CMY color mixing.
"I hung the ACLs on the spot bridge and used them for graphics for cross shots, on the trusses at the sides of the venue and to back light people in the lower seating," Beck said. "They were a real hit. The ACLs are not a huge fixture but come off like big lights. I really liked them."
