LAS VEGAS – Michael Morse, 34, was pronounced dead at 7:41 a.m. Saturday morning, June 17 at the Electric Daisy Carnival after the event’s first night at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, according to local reports. The reported death, confirmed with the Clark County (NV) coroner’s office on June 19, did not list a cause, but reports from family members suggested heat may have been a factor.
The dawn-to-dusk festival, which ran for the three nights between June 16 and 19 and attracted close to 135,000 per night and 400,000 over the three-night span, also saw a considerable increase in the total number of medical calls – 1,090, vs. 617 for last year’s three-night event. Most were treated on site; 15 reportedly required transport to area hospitals.
“The unexpected passing of a loved one is tragic, and while the exact cause of this tragedy is still unknown, we do know that family and friends are grieving,” said Insomniac Events, in a statement. “It is with great sadness that we send our thoughts and condolences to the loved ones of the man who passed away after the festival had ended.”
