LAS VEGAS – Morpheus Lights recently supplied 28 Ayrton Wildsun 500C and 20 Ayrton Rollapix luminaires for the live television broadcast of The Discovery Channel’s “Chopper Live: The Revenge” from The Joint at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. LAS VEGAS – Morpheus Lights recently supplied 28 Ayrton Wildsun 500C and 20 Ayrton Rollapix luminaires for the live television broadcast of The Discovery Channel’s “Chopper Live: The Revenge” from The Joint at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Award-winning lighting designer Greg Brunton of the Los Angeles firm Design Partners specified the Ayrton fixtures. Brunton notes, “We’d like to thank our friends at Morpheus Lights of Las Vegas, the exclusive US distributor of Ayrton LED luminaires, for introducing us to this product line. We chose two Ayrton luminaires as part of our high-impact lighting system design for this television event, and were delighted with the results.
“First, we chose the Wildsun 500C RGBW moving head washlight, which provided great color-mixing, a camera-friendly color temperature, and smooth dimming without any on-camera flicker problems. Also, we really liked the multi-array eye-candy effects.
“Then we chose the Rollapix special-effect luminaire for use as eye-candy on the two-level set, which added a new architectural dimension and helped define the space. They’re actually a unique fixture, with motion on the tilt axis. They’re punchy, fast and very bright. We had to reduce the output to around 20 percent because they were blowing out the cameras! We’re glad to have discovered these new tools, and we’re looking forward to using them on several upcoming television projects.”
