Founding of the Droneshow Alliance Announced

Drone shows are taking the event industry by storm as spectacular highlights – yet binding quality and safety standards are still lacking. Europe currently has no specific regulations in place for drone swarm applications. To close this gap, leading providers have joined forces to form the Droneshow Alliance.

The Droneshow Alliance is an independent industry initiative dedicated to the development, definition, and enforcement of shared standards. Its goal is to establish reliable framework conditions that guarantee the highest levels of safety and quality for both operators and clients.

“There are currently no specific standards or regulations for swarm applications like drone shows in the EU — even though they are technically and organizationally far more complex than conventional single-drone operations,” explains Jens Hillenkötter, Chairman of the Droneshow Alliance. “With the founding of the Alliance, we are creating a shared foundation for transparency, responsibility, and the highest safety standards.”

Membership in the Droneshow Alliance represents a recognized industry standard. Providers commit to adhering to binding standards in areas such as flight planning, risk management, technical redundancy, and emergency procedures. For event organizers, this means: planning reliability, minimized risk, and fully compliant execution.

In addition, the Droneshow Alliance promotes professional exchange and dialogue with authorities, associations, and standardization bodies — and actively drives the continuous advancement of safety standards in this dynamically growing market.
