SAN FRANCISCO – The golden icon of the San Francisco bay recently celebrated its 75th birthday with tens of thousands of its closest friends. Lightswitch helped to organize the party—the bridge and its guests were treated to a dazzling light and pyrotechnic show that took place on the bridge and along the northern San Francisco waterfront. The show culminated in a blaze of 75 light beams that rose majestically from a barge stationed in the bay and disappeared into the night sky. (Take that, candles.)
In coordination with event producer Foghorn Creative, lighting vendor Syncrolite and Pyro Spectaculars North, Lightswitch created a moving tribute with historical significance: The finale effect is reminiscent of the Scintillator, a vintage lighting technique that was introduced to the city at the Pan Pacific Exposition in 1915. Like the Golden Gate Bridge itself, it’s proof that some things never grow old.
