LAS VEGAS – PLSN readers have chosen the six regional winners of this year’s Hometown Hero Award competition. These top vote getters from each of five U.S. regions plus all of Canada will be automatically entered on the Parnelli Awards ballot. PLSN readers will then get a chance to vote on which regional company will be awarded the coveted honor of Parnelli Hometown Hero Lighting Company of the Year. The Parnelli Ballot will be posted on parnelliawards.com in early November. The nominations process for all remaining Parnelli Award categories is now underway.
The Regional Winners/North American Finalists are:
- Canada: Orange Frog Productions, Calgary, Alberta Canada
- Midwest: Legacy Production Group, Minneapolis, MN
- Northeast: East Coast Lighting/ECLPS, Warwick, RI
- Northwest: Impact Lighting, Richmond, CA
- Southeast: Music Matters Productions, Atlanta, GA
- Southwest: Brown Note Productions, Thornton, CO

Along with this year’s Hometown Hero contest, the Parnelli Awards nominations process has been underway since late September. If you haven’t done so, there’s still time to let your preferences be known and for your voice to be heard. And you can also nominate a lighting, staging, video or audio product for an Indispensable Technologies “IT” Award this month as well. But time is running out – the Parnelli nominations deadline this year is Oct. 31, 2017.
This year’s Parnelli highlights will include the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Billy Joel’s longtime production manager, Bobby “Boomer” Thrasher. The Parnelli Visionary Award will go to LD Jonathan Smeeton and the Audio Innovator award to DiGiCo’s John Stadius. All of the other Parnelli Awards are up for grabs — and you have direct control over which names are likely to appear on the final ballot by making your nomination while there’s still time to do so.
