Hometown Hero voting needs to take place prior to the voting for the Parnelli Awards themselves. That way, the regional winners can be selected and automatically placed on the final Parnelli Awards ballot. PLSN readers can then vote for the “best of the best,” the regional winner most worthy of the national Parnelli Hometown Hero honor.
The Parnelli timeline this year started with Hometown Hero nominations (June 1-July 8), now turns to Hometown Hero first-round voting (July 8-Aug. 8) and will proceed with general Parnelli Award nominations (August) and voting (September).
The Parnelli Awards take place Oct. 22 at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, during LDI. Honorees this year will include Lifetime Achievement Award winner Richard Fernandez, Visionary Award winner Danny O’Bryen and Audio Innovator Greg Mackie.
Along with the regional Hometown Hero finalists, the Parnelli Awards ballot will once again include manufacturer products vying for the 2016 Indispensable Technology (“IT”) Awards competition. IT Awards will honor innovation in the realms of Lighting, Staging, Video and Sound. Nominations are being accepted at www.plsn.com/main-news/20085 through early August as well.
