ANAHEIM, CA – Normally, when one door closes, another opens. But for the first week in October, PLSN and FRONT of HOUSE readers will not only have one last opportunity to vote for their favorite Hometown Hero sound and lighting companies. They’ll also be able to nominate other companies, individuals and products for a 2018 Parnelli Award. That’s right, even though the voting for the Hometown Hero Awards won’t slam shut until Oct. 6, the door for Parnelli Awards nominations is now wide open, until Oct. 31. And if you haven’t done so, you can also nominate a product for an Indispensable Technologies “IT” Award as well.
This year’s Parnelli highlights will include the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Billy Joel’s longtime production manager, Bobby “Boomer” Thrasher. The Parnelli Visionary Award will go to LD Jonathan Smeeton and the Audio Innovator award to DiGiCo’s John Stadius. All of the other Parnelli Awards are up for grabs — and YOU have direct control over which names are likely to appear on the final ballot by making your nomination today.
The final Parnelli Ballot, which will include the names of the Hometown Hero regional winners and “IT” Award finalists, will be posted in early November, with Parnelli voting continuing into December.
The most urgent order of business, if you haven’t yet done so, is to cast your vote for the 2018 Hometown Hero Company of the Year.

Shortly after the voting period for Hometown Hero lighting and sound companies ends, the six regional winners for both categories will be announced. As noted, these finalists will automatically be listed upon the Parnelli Ballot for the final round of voting during the month of November.
