LAS VEGAS, NV — The 2014 ILDA Conference, held at the Riviera Hotel & Casino Nov. 17-20, included an awards banquet Nov. 19 with multiple laser show categories and winners. The Fenning Award for Technical Achievement (pictured here) went to Pangolin for its Compact 506 optical scanner. Pangolin also noted that many of the other laser shows winning recognition at the awards ceremony made use of its laser display software and control hardware products.

Laser show categories (and first place winners) included Beams/Atmospherics Show for a Single X-Y Scanner Pair (Exorcist/LOBO); Beams/Atmospherics Show for Multiple Projectors (Mind Games/Dynamic Lasers); Graphics Show (Crack of Doom/Orion Art Multimedia); Abstract Show (Monkeyhands Strange 11/Christopher Short); and Beams and Screen Show (The Space Scout Journey/Orion Art Multimedia).
Other awards were given for best Planetarium Show (Dark Side of the Moon/Copernicus Science Center); Nightclub/Disco/Music Festival Show (Electric Music Festival 2013/Visual Sensation Laser Shows & Technologies); Corporate Show (Porsche/Lightline Lasertechnik GmbH); Live Stage Show (Prolight + Sound/Kvant Ltd.); Live TV Show (Royal Variety Performance/ER Productions); and Edited Film/TV/Video (Thomas Puskailer/Kvant Ltd.). More awards were given for Best Laser Show Including Multimedia (The Chapters of Glorious History/Orion Art Multimedia) and Multimedia Show Including Laser (Vltava Lives/Kvant Ltd).
Other first-place honorees received awards for Innovative Application (Fluidic — Sculpture in Motion/LaserAnimation Sollinger); Laser Photography (Rome/Kvant Ltd.); Live Laser Jockey Performance (Tim Walsh, Laser Spectacles Inc.)
Along with the awards presented for shows and gear, the ILDA ceremony honored Timothy Walsh of Laser Spectacles Inc. with its 2014 ILDA Career Achievement Award.
