NEW ORLEANS – Lighting Designer and touring technician Cody Stoltz passed away at his home in New Orleans last Monday evening after losing his battle with depression. Cody had spent the last couple of years working with the Toby Keith tours and working for lighting vendor Bandit Lites while not playing DJ at clubs around hs hometown. He was working his way up the ladder to his dream job of being a lighting designer for concert tours.
Cody was a breath of fresh air to everyone that knew him. His deep rooted love for the lighting industry started when he was just a lad. By the time he was 13 he had already gained the knowledge to program moving lights by himself. He worked hard at his craft and was deemed a lighting prodigy by many who he crossed paths with. Many world renown designers took time to share their insights and befriend Cody along his journey in life.
Cody loved to DJ and was well known in the underground DJ circuits around his hometown. Music was his passion and lighting it was a tool that he embraced. His passing leaves us all with a hole in our heart as we realize he will never grow to realize all the unleashed potential talent he had.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, December 10th at 3pm at the Marigny Opera House, 725 St. Ferdinand St. New Orleans.
