IRVING, TX — John “JR” Reid, 60, passed away on Monday, July 13 in his hometown of Irving, TX. JR was a popular account rep for many years in the entertainment business.
Well known for always bearing a smile and having a twinkle in his eye, this man touched the lives of many people, often paving their way to a successful career in the music business. The list of road technicians who depended on JR for work over the years is as long and storied as the tales he was known to tell.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1979, John went on to be a sound and light technician for Showco in Dallas. After leaving the road he made his mark working as an account rep for Showlites in LA, Morpheus Lites in San Jose, FM Productions in Orlando and Vari-Lite in Orlando, including when they merged with PRG in 2004.
JR was married to his one true love, Arlene, who passed away in 2011. He is survived by their son, Roy Reid.
Memorial services are to be held Tuesday, July 21 at 4 p.m. at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N MacArthur Blvd, Irving, TX 75061.
