In Memoriam: Kevin McCloy, 53

CUSTER, WA — Kevin “Kev McFalcon” McCloy, 53, died June 19, 2015 after a battle with bladder cancer. He served as an ETCP-certified touring rigger for Sarah McLachlan, Lilith Fair, Barenaked Ladies and the Tragically Hip, among others, and served as lead rigger for the opening ceremonies at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

McCloy, born in North Vancouver, BC, got his start in the live production industry in 1983 and ran Reel McCloy Rigging from 2002-2009. He became ETCP-certified in 2008, and his affiliations include IATSE Local 118 (since 1992) and IATSE Local 891 (since 2002). He has worked as a live music arena touring rigger since 1992, as a film technician since 1999 and as a film industry Rigging Key Grip since 2002.
