Rachelle Curran, 1974 – 2025

Ultratec Special Effects announced the passing of Rachelle Ann Aline Curran (formerly Robson) on March 4, 2025 after a long illness.

Survived by her parents, Angele and Maurice Allard; her husband, Christopher Curran; a brother and three sisters; three children, three stepchildren, and three grandchildren along with nieces and nephews and co-workers and friends, she was 50 years old at the time of her passing.

Ultratec Special Effects’ founders and owners Adrian Segeren and Marnie Styles penned the following tribute to Curran:

It is with great sadness that Ultratec Special Effects announces the passing of Rachelle Curran (formerly Robson). Rachelle was loved and respected by her peers throughout the live event industry.

Rachelle came to Ultratec Special Effects in 2010 and made it her mission to know everything she could about our theatrical atmospheric effects products. Every position she held, whether in customer service, operations, or sales, gave her the opportunity to learn procedures and practices at a detailed level. Once she learned them, she worked to improve them. Yet, the systems were not where Rachelle contributed the most.

People engagement was her superpower. Owners, co-workers, and customers could count on Rachelle to bring the caring and humor that made working with Ultratec productive and enjoyable. When it came time several years ago to codify Ultratec’s core values, we chose Dedication and Passion, Customer First, Integrity, Reputation, and Fun. From the beginning, it was clear that Rachelle was the poster child for those values.

Moving past this loss will not be easy, but a great way for us to honor her is to live every day with the attitude she brought to Ultratec in all aspects of our lives.

On behalf of the Ultratec family and to all who knew her, we pledge to do justice to her loving memory by striving to live up to the core values she inspired and adopted.

A Memorial Service for Rachelle Curran was held at San Sebastian’s Catholic Church in St. Augustine, FL on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Burial and reception will be held at a later date in Winnipeg, MB.
