NASHVILLE — Ted Emmit Mellencamp, 62, died March 4, 2016 at his home in Nashville, surrounded by family. He was a tour manager for his older brother John Mellencamp and other well-known artists.
After graduating from Seymour High School in Seymour, Indiana in 1971, Ted Mellencamp worked for eight years as a journeyman electrician before embarking on his career as a tour manager. He later worked as a promotional rep at for Polygram Records, based in Houston and Nashville.
Between his work as tour manager and promotional rep, he supported acts including Jon Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Cinderella, Kiss, Tears for Fears, The Scorpions and Kool and the Gang along with that of his brother John.
Mellencamp is survived by his father, Richard L. Mellencamp; his wife of more than 40 years, Debbie; brothers Joe and John; sisters Janet and Laura; two children and five grandchildren. Visitation, funeral and burial services will take place in Seymour March 8-9.
