BOSTON – JCALPRO made a $1,000 donation to support relief efforts in Haiti. A matched joint donation was also made in association with The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) and the American Library Association (ALA), which held its 2010 Midwinter Meeting at the MCCA. Noting that Boston is home to one of the largest Haitian communities in the U.S., James J. Callanan, president and CEO of JCALPRO noted that "we all know someone who is personally affected by this disaster," and that "JCALPRO is proud to help in any way possible; every penny is crucial to the health and well-being of those suffering in Haiti."

"Several members of our staff lost family in the earthquake," said James E. Rooney, executive director of the MCAA. "We wanted to respond with immediate humanitarian support, and helping ALA attendees to respond individually doubled these efforts."
