PALM DESERT, CA — Charlie Hernandez, head of the charity group, Just a Bunch of Roadies (justabunchofroadies.org) rallied the troops in Southern California for a day of volunteer work in support of Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, a Palm Desert. CA-based ranch that offers free rides to create memorable experiences for disabled and special needs children and adults.

JABOR members had donated their services to support this organization during a break from the TourLink conference that was staged in Palm Desert, CA earlier this year. The more recent service day took place Oct. 11, prior to the organization’s seasonal program launch date later this month.

“Thank you all for helping and getting Pegasus ready for their opening,” Hernandez wrote, in an email to volunteers, who donated their time to help the nonprofit ranch get ready for its guests with chores including painting, cleaning, organizing and landscaping.

Although JABOR has also worked to improve lives in distant lands, “we recognize we have just as much to do at the end of our driveways as there is to do on the other side of the world,” Hernandez had noted, in his initial call to action for the Pegasus day of service.

“Pegasus is a non-profit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding opportunities for severely and multiply disabled, special needs children and adults,” Hernandez continued.

“The full body range of motion exercise that can be offered on horseback is proven to have great therapeutic benefit for person suffering from autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and any neuro-muscular disorders,” he added.

“It is normally cost prohibitive for most families. Pegasus has been providing therapeutic riding free of charge to their clients since 1981.” He offered a link to those interested in supporting this organization in its chosen mission:
