MIAMI – Returning for the third straight year to Ultra, one of the world’s most celebrated outdoor music festival, Elements Krypton 25s were more prominently featured at the festival than ever before. Used on the Main Stage, the UMF Radio Stage, the Live Stage and in the AG Mega Arch, KR-25s showed the kind of performance that has made them a staple of the EDM festival scene.
Packing 1900 watts, the KR-25s’ lighting heat is felt at the FOH. Owing to their brightness, the fixtures have become increasingly popular with lighting designers for use at outdoor events, especially those hosting daytime sets.
The main stage was co-designed by Bruce Rodgers and James Klein, and the KR-25s were a major element. There were 30 KR-25s on the Main Stage, the setting for more than 60 major artists. Lighting design was handled by Richard Neville of Mandy Lights, and VER provided the main stage gear.
Stephen Lieberman of SJ Lighting, LD on the AG Mega Arch, used 12 of the KR-25s provided by AG Light & Sound. SJ Lighting handled lighting design on the Ultra Live Stage as well, using eight KR25s for Boys Noize. Paradigm supplied gear for the Live Stage.
On the UMF Radio stage, 20 KR-25s were used on a circular truss setup, and employed by dozens of LDs including André Beekmans and Scott O’Connor. Beach Sound provided gear for the UMF stage.
The Krypton line is handled exclusively by Inner Circle Distribution, headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. “The reception the Krypton line has gotten over the past few years is just fantastic,” said Bruce Bandy, head of ICD business development. “It’s a testimony to how well these fixtures perform – plain and simple.”
