LaserNet Brings Attention to Calder Casino Grand Opening

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – With the NFL's Pro Bowl and Super Bowl drawing much attention in South Florida, the recent grand opening for the Calder Casino, which added 1,200 slot machines and three new restaurants to the Calder Race Track complex for horse racing, needed a visual attention-getter. LaserNet ponied up the gear needed to turn more than a few heads, with two green lasers on the ramp leading to the original race track's grandstands aimed at treetop level and laser-generated graphic images projecting on an adjacent wall.

LaserNet's P8000 RGB solid state laser system created the graphics on the wall with laptop programming via Pangolin. The full color, three-minute show featured the logos of the facility, racing horses and related gambling images set to run in a continuous loop.

That display ran nonstop from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight for three consecutive nights. The graphic images from the 8-watt RGB unit could be easily seen despite ambient light and a full moon.

The green laser effects were created with LaserNet's Verde 20 Watt YAG lasers. The Verde system's 10 position-optical bench enabled the laser to precisely target the beams at treetop levels to avoid interfering with traffic at nearby airports, in compliance with FAA rules. Even with the beams at the levels low enough to avoid airport interference, they could be seen from more than 10 miles away.
