Lighting Up the CMA Awards for Country Music

PLSN Staff • News • November 14, 2008

NASHVILLE — The 42nd annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, a three-hour telecast on the ABC Television Network with 19 performances, including songs performed by co-hosts Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and the Eagles, shown here, was lit by LD Bob Dickinson, who added A&O Technology’s xenon Falcon luminaires to this year’s show. Dickinson used a lighting rig that included 32 Falcon 6000s, six Falcon 3K Beams and six Falcon 3K Flowers for the television special. The Falcon 6000 is an indoor/outdoor, DMX controlled xenon fixture that includes a CMY+1 color changer and extra scrolls for special effects.

The Falcon Beam, available in 3K to 8K for both indoor and outdoor applications, is designed for floor-mounted and suspended/inverted use and converts into a multiple-beam Falcon Flower.

Falcon xenon lights have been used on several major productions this year including the Superbowl Halftime Show with Tom Petty, the 2008 Grammy Awards, Dancing With The Stars, The Coachella Valley Music Festival, Kanye West’s U.S. tour, the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, My Morning Jacket’s U.S. tour, the grand opening of the Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas, The Democratic Convention from Denver and other events.

A&O has locations in America, Europe, Middle East and Asia. A&O opened a U.S. rental location earlier this year. A&O Technology, Inc. specializes in full-service production including the provision of xenon, metal halide and LED products. TMB is the exclusive sales distributor for Alpha One xenon products.
