Los Temerarios Lit with Robe for U.S. Shows

LOS ANGELES — Mexican pop artists Los Temerarios have over 120 shows planned for 2009 in the U.S., Central and South America using a lighting design by Fabian Boggino that includes over 80 Robe moving lights. Boggino has worked for Los Temerarios since 1998. This is the group’s first tour in three years. Paradigm Production Services is providing gear for the U.S. portions of the tour, and Paradigm’s George Valdez originally recommended the Robes to Boggino. Valdez also programmed the show with Boggino using a grandMA full size console.

“George is the principal of Paradigm and a very knowledgeable LD in his own right,” said Boggino, “so I completely trusted his judgment when he suggested I use Robe’s ColorSpot and ColorWash 1200E AT units for the first time.” When Valdez had demoed the fixtures, Boggino was impressed. “I particularly liked the quality of light, smooth movement and silent operation, and the color palette is fantastic,” he said.

Boggino is also using the standard set of ColorSpot 1200E AT gobos for aerials and beam projections, along with the prism effect and slow and smooth movements for Los Temerarios’ soft, romantic ballads.

One of the design objectives was to create a delicate dynamic, with pastel hues and gentle shades of color in a highly visual environment, complementing the music but not distracting attention from it. “The versatility of the 1200s really helped me achieve this goal,” he said.

The tour originally kicked off back in August 2008 with two weeks rehearsals at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, followed by a show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif., attended by a crowd of more than 7,000. Since then, Boggino has also spec'd Robe moving lights for singer Ricardo Arjona’s upcoming world tour.
