NEW YORK – BML-Blackbird was selected to provide a variety of technical services for the Louis Vuitton “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez” exhibition at the former American Stock Exchange building in lower Manhattan. This was the first open-to-the-public event to be held within the 14-story building since it was vacated on Dec. 1, 2008, after the American Stock Exchange merged with the New York stock exchange and Amex Equities and Options traders moved to NYSE headquarters at 11 Wall Street. The exhibit is free to the public and open until Jan. 7, 2018.
More details from BML Blackbird (www.bmlblackbird.com):
New York-based construction management firm Big Show managed the entire project. The exhibit features a massive collection of Louis Vuitton products dating back to the 1800s, when the company was started.
BML started with providing lighting and structures, with a large complement of ETC Lustr 2 ellipsoidals controlled by an MA Command Wing along with other fixtures by Arri. Big Show selected track fixtures by Times Square, and BML installed approximately 600 fixtures and a many hundreds of feet of track.
In addition, BML provided a 55’ tall Generico Entertainment Products ground support tower system for the “Ships” section of the exhibit, which includes a real 50-foot-tall ship’s mast.
To load large scenic elements, BML provided a large gantry-type crane system utilizing Generico 20.5-inch truss and an I-beam system to move large scenic elements from the main floor to the mezzanine.
BML was then tasked with providing 12 x 150kva transformers and a thousands of feet of 4/0 cabling to power HVAC units in order to be able to maintain the temperature specified by LV in place of the aging system in the building.
BML then installed miles of Ethernet cable for almost 70 security cameras, then another mile of alarm cable, plus wiring for all HVAC and general power distribution utilizing 12 x 30 way and 1 x 208v power distributions along with several miles of cable.
Master electrician Felipe Torres of Big Show designed the lighting package and worked closely with BML to ensure all of the many electrical needs were met for this project.
