June 16, 2014 — Today marks the launch of a new ticketing program called Ludus that easily lets theatres sell tickets online and in-person. Its aim is to be the all-in-one box office solution for theaters of all sizes.
Ludus began as a custom ticketing program for Holland High School Theatre in Michigan to help manage their large ticket sales over the course of the 2013 – 2014 school year. After the first major test of the program, it was obvious Ludus could serve as a powerful option to other theatres. Founders Zachary Collins and Kevin Schneider soon began work on a version of Ludus that could be setup by any theatre within minutes, ready for ticket sales.
The Ludus program offers a substantial set of features, out-performing other ticketing programs on the market, while keeping it simple to use. Some useful/notable features include: custom web URL to send customers to, completely customizable text and colors, provide refunds and exchanges from the admin panel, allow customers to print tickets or receive them digitally on their phones, mass marketing to attendees, and integration with box office hardware (a credit card swiper and a mobile barcode scanner for ticket verification) – just to name a few.
Pricing for Ludus is based around two different plans: Free and Premium. Free adds a 2%/ticket fee passed onto the attendee (never coming out of the theatre’s pocket) for each individual order – money earned is paid out after the show. Premium allows theatres to setup their own merchant account to be completely in control of their money for $40/showtime posted (no ticket fee passed onto the attendee) – money goes directly to the theatre per transaction.
“Ludus was designed to be the best ticketing program on the market for online and in- person ticket sales. We asked numerous theatre directors and box office managers what they wanted in a ticketing program and were able to learn from them to offer a beautiful, simple, and powerful program.” – Co-founder & Creator, Zachary Collins.
