LAS VEGAS – To meet the need for laser effects at kineticField, the main stage at Insomniac Events’ Electric Daisy Carnival 2014 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway last month, Lasertainment provided more than 30 high power laser systems.

Known for its large-scale production, Electric Daisy Carnival featured eight large stages. The biggest, spanning 440 feet, was the main stage area, kineticField. Along with the 30 laser systems, Lasertainment provided laser show operators from Europe with many years of live stage experience. Each unit had individual control, for both timecode synchronized and live operation.

The kineticField system also required a timecode-synched show for nine DJ intros that spanned 60 minutes. Another challenge was that the Front of House area was about 260 feet from the stage, so the laser control signals were transmitted via optical fiber, and later on with CAT6 cables, to avoid any signal problems.

A good outdoor laser show requires effectively distributed fog or haze throughout the area to make the most spectacular impressions. At EDC Las Vegas, there were more than 60 fog/haze machines present at the main stage to ensure sufficient effects support for the lasers.

Lasertainment’s G. Kearney added, “The whole show worked perfect, the setup was done in two days and nights. The two rehearsal days showed that all systems worked more than well and the organizers were very happy.”
