MIAMI – At 2pm EST on Jan. 28, free tickets (actually, $1, with those proceeds going to charity) became available for a Feb. 15 DeadMau5 show at Miami’s Ice Palace. It took all of about a half-minute for those tickets to be snapped up. LD Scott Chmielewski used Beachsound and Lighting gear for the event. Among the fixtures in the rig: Eurolite PMC 16×30 LED matrices, distributed in the U.S. by Inner Circle Distribution.

deadMau5MIAMI – “No Cheese for the VIP” was the motto for the lucky 4,000 fans that won tickets, in a 30 second internet free-for-all, to see Grammy-nominated producer Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known as DeadMau5. The Eurolite Performance Clusters (PMC 16×30) and Deadmau5 worked the Mau5 faithful into a fervor Saturday night at the Ice Palace. The Eurolite PMC 16×30 were deployed on a DMDS7UDIOS, Scott Chmielewski designed stage.  This was one of the hottest tickets Miami has seen in years and BeachSound and Lighting provided the full production for the special night.

The free show came about after Mr. Mau5 complained via Twitter that the VIP crowd, and not his true fans, had prime seating at his New Year’s show at Mansion in South Beach. Club Space responded with an open letter to the Mau5 to come return to Miami to play a free set for the fans. Deadmau5 responded, “Well played SPACE, Well Played.”  This resulted in the No Cheese for the VIPs Ice Palace show.

Chmielewski’s design turned this massive warehouse into the hottest club in Miami for the night with the PMC 16x30s providing the perfect eye candy at one moment and a full-out blinder the next. Chmielewski used the fixtures in numerous creative ways throughout the night and set the vibe just right.

deadmau5He added “We were finally able to use the PMCs on this unprecedented event for DeadMau5 in Miami.  They were the perfect example of high tech and low-res that suits the look of an artist like him.  They had such a visual impact on the design with their unique look and size and they were able to fill in otherwise empty space very effectively.  Although there have been several other versions on the market since their introduction, none of them even come close in brightness or the vivid look and color of the 30 Watt COB LEDs.”

The stage was a radical departure from the South Beach Club shows Deadmau5 has done in the past; Chmielewski brought an organic and refreshing design to the space.  Deadmau5 previously said he would not play Miami again, however, at 5 a.m., he announced on Twitter, “Miami has redeemed itself. Yay! Good times.”

The Eurolite line is handled exclusively by Inner Circle Distribution, headquartered in Sunrise, FL.
