Movement 2011 Safeguarded with eps Products

DETROIT — Over Memorial Day weekend, Paxahau’s Movement Electronic Music Festival set attendance records and drew nearly 100,000 people with more than 100 acts staged at Hart Plaza. The festival’s organizers relied upon eps products to enhance the three-day’s events safety.

Three of the five stages were equipped with eps’ heavy-duty GIGS Stage Barriers crash barricades, as were many of the mixing stations. A total of nearly 700 feet of eps barrier was used across the festival.

The Red Bull Music Academy stage used approximately 179 feet and six corner elements of GIGS to barricade three sides of the spectator area. The stage barriers from eps also lined the mixing tent at the Vitamin Water main stage, where thousands gathered to see headlining acts like Fatboy Slim, Felix Da Housecat, and 69 (Carl Craig).

Ticketing, credential tents, and the VIP area got some help from eps products as well. Nearly 8,600 sq. feet of Hexagon ground cover created a solid base over the grassy, uneven sections of the festival site.

Designed for ease of installation, the Hexagon ground cover was installed with no more than a handful of crew members within a few hours. Rainy conditions prior to and during the festival made effective ground cover very important. When uncovered sections of the lawn became muddy, Hexagon panels were easily repositioned for stability. Additionally, the treaded top-side of the panels provided traction for festival-goers.

Held each year since 2000, the Movement festival has drawn global talent and audiences to downtown Detroit. This is the sixth year of management by local promoter Paxahau.
