In Memoriam: Curry Grant, Lighting Designer/VP Concert Touring for PRG, 73

VP of Concert Touring for PRG and Lighting Designer, Curry Grant, a legend in the Live Entertainment industry, has died at the age of 73. We at PLSN were so very sorry to hear of his passing. Requiescat in Pace, Curry Grant.

Robe Remembers Bob Schacherl 1954 – 2025

Robe shared a tribute to Bob Schacherl, who headed the U.S. operation between 2013 and 2019 and sadly passed away last week. Schacherl was a beloved friend, colleague, Robe Family member and professional entertainment lighting industry legend.

Pierre E. Roy Lights Dave Gaudet’s ‘La Légende’ with CHAUVET

Pierre E. Roy recently lit a sold-out performance of La Légende by comedian Dave Gaudet at the Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. Following a vision guided by what he describes as “Making Light Rock,” Roy animated his client’s witty and satirical performance with a versatile rig supplied by Nord-Scène that featured 57 CHAUVET Professional fixtures.

Brooks and Dunn ‘Neon Moon Tour’ Glows with Lüz Studio and Bandit Lites

Country super stars Brooks & Dunn wrapped their 2025 'Neon Moon Tour' at the end of April with a lighting package from Bandit Lites. Production Designer Matthieu Larivée, from Lüz Studio, worked to incorporate the lighting with large, wide screens to give the audience an immersive experience.

Robe Supports Scena Jutra 2025 Event

The Scena Jutra – Stage of Tomorrow – event was hosted this year in Warsaw, Poland with a dynamic program of over 120 speakers picked from all sectors of the performance, entertainment and technology community. Robe once again supported its Polish distributor Prolight, showcasing its products and innovations, including Avolites and LSC Control Systems.

Elation Shines Bright at Grand Opening of National Medal of Honor Museum

LD Ryan Stumpp turned to the PROTEUS ATLAS power luminaire and the new flagship PARAGON as part of a large Elation lighting package for nighttime spectacular and ancillary events. Live Events Productions and Gemini supplied the lighting.

A Moving Canvas: VLHive Debuts on The Wombats’ European Tour

Indie rock icons The Wombats are currently touring the UK and Europe with a bold new visual identity, powered by the first touring deployment of the VLHive 151 Digital FX lighting fixture from Vari-Lite, originators of the modern moving head lighting fixture and a Signify entertainment lighting brand. The show has been designed by lighting designer Rosie Haigh, who is also Vari-Lite Business Development Manager at Signify.

Brigham Young University-Idaho has invested in 14 Ayrton Cobra2 fixtures for its Rexburg campus. The Cobra2 is a phosphor laser source luminaire with an incredible beam angle, extreme range of focus and perfect color reproduction. Brown Note Productions in Thornton, Colorado provided the Cobra2 fixtures kicking off a new relationship with the university.

The 78th Annual Tony Awards will return to the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing’s 78th Annual Antoinette Perry Tony Awards® have now been announced.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division on May 1, 2025 issued a field assistance bulletin providing guidance on how to determine employee or independent contractor status when enforcing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The Board of Directors of the Event Safety Alliance (ESA) has hired Rob Bergeron, CAE, as the organization’s second Executive Director. Bergeron brings decades of diverse association management experience and became ESA’s first full-time employee in the chief staff executive role on April 28, 2025.
