LAS VEGAS — If you want to check out the way PLSN.com now differs from how it used to appear, and you have access to a traditional desktop computer, click and drag the lower right corner of your browser window. As the window changes in size, you’ll notice that elements on the page stay organized, but move around a bit — making the site more useful for those with different sized screens, including mobile devices.
“These changes were made to reflect the fact that more and more of our site visitors are using mobile devices to access our web pages,” says PLSN publisher Terry Lowe. “It’s not a one-size-fits-all world anymore.”
Along with its more mobile-friendly design, the website now features images in a larger format, with thumbnails and headlines arranged for easier “at a glance” navigation to stories of most interest to different users. And if the new, clean layout and look are most noticeable at first glance, refinements are continuing behind the scenes to make the site more useful to an industry on the move.
“When I first came aboard PLSN, I asked the readers what I could do to make their reading more enjoyable,” says editor Nook Schoenfeld. “Enough people chimed in to say they liked reading the news on their phone while having down time at a gig or commuting to work. But the old system we used needed a serious update to navigate through all the news, ads and articles. I can tell you that at PLSN, we listen. We move on your insights. We felt your need for speed and that’s what we’ve given you. A fresh new look where you can choose from hundreds of articles and news events quick and effortlessly.”
