Mid-America Sound Corp., Indiana State Fair Commission and IATSE Local 30 Fined by State OSHA

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA), which had conducted an investigation into possible workplace violations associated with the collapse of the main stage at the Indiana State Fair on Aug. 13, 2011, issued a report and levied more than $80,000 in fines against the staging company, the stagehand’s union and the state fair commission.

Marcel deKeyzer Departs XL Video US

ATLANTA — XL Video said Marcel deKeyzer, who co-founded the company with his brother, René deKeyzer, in 1996, has resigned to pursue other interests.  XL Video’s Greg Gardner will replace Marcel deKeyzer as COO of U.S. operations. “We are grateful to Marcel for his contribution in growing XL Video in the U.S.,” said René deKeyzer, XL Video’s CEO. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Elaborate Halftime Show Part of Most-Watched Super Bowl Ever

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Over 111 million viewers tuned into NBC to watch Super Bowl XLVI and the Bridgestone Halftime Show featuring Madonna, LMFAO, M.I.A., Nicki Minaj and Cee Lo Green. The halftime show was lit by Al Gurdon and featured a production design by Bruce Rodgers of Tribe, Inc. The show’s large cast performed Cirque du Soleil influenced-choreography on 43 modular pieces handled by some 500 stagehands, with load-in and load-out (pictured here) taking place in nine and 10 minutes, respectively. PLSNeditor Justin Lang and Stage Directions editor Jacob Coakley followed the action as it happened, tweeting live on Twitter.

The new MAC III AirFX is a combination beam, effects and wash luminaire and is the latest 1500-watt moving head in Martin’s MAC III family. Debuting Feb. 22-23 at PLASA Focus in Austin, TX.

Elation Elated Over Super Bowl Weekend

INDIANAPOLIS – More than 135 Elation Platinum Beam 5R ACL beam effects filled the nighttime sky over downtown Indianapolis as Dodd Technologies turned Georgia Street into a Super Bowl Village experience for visitors to the city.
