BOSTON, Mass, – Preston Hoffman of Pulse Lighting was called upon to illuminate Boston’s City Hall Plaza once again for the Boston Calling Music Festival on September 25-27. Hoffman once again brought in local lighting vendor East Coast Lighting & Production Services (ECLPS). More details from ECLPS (www.eclps.com)

This was the third time in the past two years that Preston has taken on the task of lighting the large, unadorned public space in the Government Center area of the city. ECLPS supplied the lighting equipment and technicians to do the build for the event.

Preston Preston used Harman’s Martin MAC Viper Profile fixtures and Robe Robin 1200 LED Wash fixtures to light the buildings along with a combination of other LED fixtures including Color Kinetics Colorblaze and Colorblast 12s, Martin Stagebar, Chauvet Colordash Quad PARs and Elation Color Chorus 48s and Opti Quad PARs. “It’s really a difficult space to work in but I see the space and the buildings and think these buildings and flat surfaces were meant to be projected upon.” said Hoffman. Preston and ECLPS also were responsible for lighting the open air VIP room and VIP bar and lounge areas. Hoffman concluded “I took what is a very hard, brutalist environment and formed it into a warm inviting space that’s also exciting to look at.”

The building looked dazzling to all within eyesight. Refreshing textures and color schemes brought the building to life without overshadowing the true architectural marvel.
