ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Event Technology Services (ETS) serves a diverse client base handling everything from casino and club installations to concert and corporate events. When ETS owner Eric Kennedy needed to expand his inventory of gear, he turned to PRG Distribution to find the equipment that would fill the bill. “PRG Distribution’s Tim Brennan, suggested that I look at the Clay Paky fixture line as well as the ChamSys MagicQ 100 console,” said Kennedy. “The benefits of choosing the Clay Paky fixtures were lower weight and smaller size with increased output and reliability. I chose the Alpha Wash 300s to replace our 575W washes, shedding approximately 30 lbs per fixture but picking up about 30 percent in output with a whole new realm of color, movement, speed and consistency.”
ETS also replaced their hard-edged profiles with Clay Paky HPE 300s and 700s. “Replacing a 250W color wheel fixture with a 300W color mixing fixture was a tough decision from a monetary standpoint,” Kennedy said, “but the shows look much better for it and that has gained us customers in the long run.”
The final fixture change for the ETS inventory makeover was replacing their 200W hard-edged fixtures with Clay Paky’s Alpha Spot HPE 700. “Our truss weight went from 1,500 lbs. a point to 750 lbs a point, which is pretty important as we do a lot of outdoor shows on temporary stages,” said Kennedy. “And the output of the fixtures is very impressive. The gobo projection quality is even and crisp, the colors are pure and saturated. I would say this is the best value in lighting for a baseline fixture.”
ETS also purchased Clay Paky’s Alpha Beam 300 fixtures for the added punch it offers as a design tool. “We don’t want to do a big show or party without them now,” said Kennedy.
In addition to upgrading their fixture inventory, ETS also required a control console that was flexible and reliable. Kennedy had previously installed a ChamSys MagicQ 100 at the Kxx Nightclub at the Route 66 Casino and Hotel.
“The ChamSys is now the main desk ETS uses,” said Kennedy. “I love the flexibility of the ChamSys software. We have an MQ100 console, an Execute Wing, and two PC Wing systems with Extra Wings and they have been rock solid. The support from PRG Distribution, from Eric Mueller and John Mayer as well as Tim Brennan, has been top notch,” Kennedy added.
