Rush Tour Gets Assist from Pyrotek Special Effects

LOS ANGELES – Howard Ungerleider's designs for Rush's Time Machine tour called for more special effects than the band's previous Snakes & Arrows tour. Pyrotek Special Effects' John Arrowsmith was on hand to provide everything from pyro and flames to cryo for songs "Caravan," "BU2B (Brought Up 2 Believe)" and "Witch Hunt."

Pyro effects were a natural for "Caravan," from Rush's forthcoming Clockwork Angels album, which describes fire and flames in the lyrics.

"BU2B, (Brought Up 2 Believe)," meanwhile, incorporates eight cryogenic heads positioned upstage at various asymmetrical positions as part of a steampunk gag.

For "Witch Hunt," Arrowsmith created a fire-burning look around the stage, using Dragon devices to create a low random flame setting.
