NASHVILLE – Music City is home to yet another production company, as Screenworks hung out their shingle and got one of those respected “615” area codes on Dec. 10. They celebrated with an all-day open house/reception that brought long time friends and new acquaintances into their new office and warehouse. More details from Screenworks (www.nepinc.com/welcome/screenworks/?lang=CY):
“We’ve had the pleasure of working with Kenny Chesney and [his production manager] Ed Wannebo for 10 years, and recently we’ve picked up Tim McGraw and his one-time opening act, Eric Church,” says Screenwork’s Danny O’Bryen. “That’s three of the top ten tours, so we felt the timing was right to get into the Nashville marketplace. Nashville is different from L.A., and we understand that there’s a different approach to doing business here. Being here is important, and we look forward to earning new business.”
“We’ve talked about it for at least four years, but it was about finding the right person to run it,” adds L.A.-office based Randy Mayer, director of concert touring. “And we found that person in Andy Gerber.” Gerber has a long history with O’Bryen, having met him when he was a student at Purdue University in Indiana. Gerber has worked many shows with Screenworks, including having spent years out with Jimmy Buffett. He’s relocating from Indianapolis to Nashville to run the new office.
“This location will meet a general growing demand we have – the company overall is growing and we need more space,” Gerber says. “And this will help serve our clients here in Nashville and throughout the south and east.” In addition to the big three country acts they serve, “we’re working on others.” They will start off with six full time employees, and expand from there, Mayer says, who predicted that they will likely outgrow the space they just rented in two years and likely become bigger then their L.A. HQ inside of five years. Currently the company has 75 full time employees, and two southern California locations – Camarillo and Corona.
The grand opening included plenty to eat and drink, and many Screenworks professionals on hand to talk to those who stopped in. They had several systems set up in the warehouse, and naturally, a large video screen in the parking lot. O’Bryen, one of the pioneers of concert video, adds that the location will help with another portion of their business, serving the car racing and professional golf industries, in addition to the increasing festival work (specifically EDM) they’ve been doing. The Nashville address is 7108 Crossroads Blvd., Suite 314, Brentwood, Tenn., 37027. The number is 615-370-3880.
