RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, CA — Iconic rock band Motley Crue is in the last leg of their two-year Final Tour, with fans enjoying many farewell appearances around the world. The band’s touring career will conclude for good in less than six months on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2015. Appropriately they’ll say their final goodbyes at Staples Center in Los Angeles — the city where the band’s career began some 34 years ago.

The fans aren’t the only ones saying their goodbyes to the legendary rock band. Motley Crue first began using Sew What? Inc. for its custom concert draperies back in 2005, and has consistently used them to turn their ideas into reality for their concerts throughout the years.
Megan Duckett, owner of stage drapery manufacturer Sew What? Inc. and sister company, Rent What? Inc. says, “Working with Motley’s show producers and staff has to be some of our firm’s most memorable assignments. We’ve been pleased to have a small role in some of their epic performances these last ten years. We wish the band members and supporting staff all much success in the coming years.”
The band pledged as part of its Farewell Tour to produce the most elaborate and cutting edge show production of Motley Crue’s career to date. As part of the show, Sew What? Inc recently created a custom sewn backdrop with applique pentagram for the rock heavyweights and their Final Tour.
Work began at the end of July when Sew What? Inc. was contacted by Sooner Routhier, in Production Design and Robert Long, their Production Design/Manager, to create a custom multi-media backdrop. The contract required a tight turnaround time for the bands “farewell” tour.
The main concert backdrop produced is a traditional theatrical sharkstooth scrim. The drape was made of a 3 Thread Black Sharkstooth Scrim. Sew What? Inc. then digitally printed a Pentangle Logo onto durable polyester and hand appliqued the custom design onto the center of the drape. The backdrop was first used on August 11, 2015 at Giant Center in Hershey, PA. You can see a video of Motley’s custom stage scrim production.
The 2015 leg of the Motley’s Final Tour includes shows all across the globe. By the end of 2015, The Final Tour will have visited an impressive 5 continents since July 2014 (North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Asia) for a total of more than 164 shows. Thus will end what’s been coined an important “era in rock history”.
